No matter what setting a student is in whether it be General Education or Special Education every student has different needs that must be tended to. Below are only a few services and supports that were chosen to help you learn more.
Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS)
Positive behavior Intervention Support is a school-wide approach that uses a three tiered behavioral support system which focuses on preventing possible behavior problems from occurring. This approach is not just for students in Special Education, but used for everyone in the school. It address problems such as, tantrums, aggression, property destruction, blurting out inappropriate comments, and seclusion. In PBIS a behavior is broken down in an attempt to find the cause of it, while also teaching the student skills in better dealing with the behavior at hand.

Seclusion and Restraint
Seclusion and Restraint is a last resort procedure used in a crisis situation when a student is, or is on the verge of harming themselves or others.
Restraint is the physical act taken to control the student when they are in the midst of having a crisis. Restraints include getting ahold of the students head, arms, legs, or body and should only be implemented when the student shows no control over his/her actions.
Seclusion is the separation of the student from everyone else. Typically placing them in an isolated and secure location where they have no way of leaving on their own. This is the time given to the student in hopes that they will cool off and calm down while continuing to be monitored by staff. Seclusion should NEVER exceed 20 minutes.

Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI)
LSCI is an approach taken that gives the teacher and other staff members time to therapeutically talk about stressful situations with students and teach them the strategies to self-monitor their situation. This strategy is most effectively used when a student is beginning to, escalating into power struggles, self-abuse themselves, get in destructive peer relationships, lack in social skills, and are blind to their aggressive behavior.
